Financial Aid for Grow in Grace Courses
Pastors who are actively serving in ministry within the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) or in churches of its confessional fellowship are eligible to apply for tuition assistance. Limited scholarship funds are available based on need and other criteria. Because funds are limited, early application is recommended.
Tuition Discount with Congregational Support
When a congregation or calling body contributes toward a pastor’s continuing education, the seminary provides a tuition discount for any Grow in Grace course taken for-credit on campus or online. This discount is intended to support congregations that invest in their pastor’s ongoing theological growth and professional development.
Financial Aid Without Congregational Support
Pastors who are pursuing continuing education without financial support from their calling body are encouraged to apply for financial aid.
Travel Assistance
For pastors traveling a significant distance to attend Summer Quarter or Winterim on campus, a travel grant may help offset costs. Grow in Grace may reimburse up to 50% of eligible travel expenses exceeding $400 per individual. Eligible expenses are limited to airfare, personal vehicle mileage to and from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, or hired transportation (such as Uber or Lyft) between Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport MKE and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. If you live more than 150 miles from campus and plan to drive, please research the cost of a rental vehicle. In some cases, a rental vehicle may be more economical than mileage reimbursement for a personal vehicle. Receipts or supporting documentation are required.
Veterans Benefits
Our continuing education degree programs are approved for VA benefits for qualifying students.
